Provides professional administrative support to the University's employee benefits program. Serves as benefits resource to University employees and departments.
1. Performs hire, termination and benefits data entry into the UH and ERS PeopleSoft systems. Submits Administrative Exception Requests to ERS as needed.
2. Conducts initial review of FML cases and communicates with department and employee to ensure all required criteria for a decision have been met.
3. Assists with FML data entry into the University's PeopleSoft system to put people on leave, adjust hours and bring them back from leave as needed.
4. Answers employee questions regarding UH benefits, including leave, insurance plans, disability programs, Family Medical Leave Act, Sick Leave Pool, and retirement plan options. Refers complex issues to senior benefits staff as appropriate.
5. Maintains the University's Sick Leave Pool. Processes contributions and withdrawals, approves applications based on eligibility.
6. Calculates leave dates, eligible prior state service, transferable sick and vacation hours and longevity pay. Communicates leave and prior state service information to Payroll and departments.
7. May assist with new employee orientation and participate in other benefits training offered to University employees.
8. Assists with annual projects such as Summer Enrollment, Benefits Fair, etc.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
