National Accounts Executive (Sales)

Position Overview:  The National Accounts Executive role reports to the Director of National Accounts. This is a non-commissioned sales role, focusing on chain, institutional, and school accounts. Specific focus area may vary depending on business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Build successful relationships with school and chain account customers by initiating regular calls to ensure program account orders and assist customers with placing orders if necessary.
• Provide superior consultative sales and service to foster strong customer relationships.
• Provide and update customized product order guides for proprietary items.
• Conduct business reviews with customers to assess performance, identify growth opportunities, and address any issues.
• Notify customers of outages or shortages and assist in finding substitutions where applicable.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the National Accounts team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Operations, and Finance to align account objectives with overall company goals.
• Work closely with Merchandising to ensure proper inventory levels of needed products are maintained and available to assigned customers. Prepare and present projected usage information to Merchandising in a timely manner.
• Service customers within contract guidelines.
• Audit and monitor contract pricing.
• Manage customer credits and rebills.
• Attend and/or facilitate customer meetings.
• Participate in product training.
• Strengthen customer relations in collaboration with the Director of National Accounts.
• Some travel required for customer and prospective customer visits.
• Attend sales meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• • High school diploma required; AA degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or CDM preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in customer service and/or contract sales preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of the food service industry.
  • Understanding of the market area, including the industry, customers, and competitors.
  • Proficiency in computer skills with ability to learn new applications; knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and Outlook is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must project a positive attitude.

Essential Functions:

• Constant sitting for prolonged periods while performing desktop activities or driving.
• Frequent stand/walk throughout all office areas.
• Constant use of both hands/arms, in reaching/grasping/fingering while performing desktop activities and keyboarding.
• Occasional lifting, 1-20 lbs., normal office supplies.
• Occasional bend/squat/kneel while filing or retrieving materials from lower areas.
• Constant use of sight/hearing/speech necessary to perform essential job functions.
• Able to prioritize workload.
• Requires good communication and interpersonal skills both on the phone and in person.
• Must be able to deal with frequent interruptions, fast pace, and deadlines.
