Staff Accountant (Finance)

KS Bank is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to work in our Smithfield Operations Center. Primary duties for this role include, but not limited to:
Responsible for day-to-day processing of accounts payable function.
Reports sales taxes plus estimated and backup withholding taxes.
Reconciles and reviews various general ledger accounts to make certain the overall balancing is accurate.
Researches issues to ensure that any out-of-balance situations are resolved in a timely manner.
Ensures financial practices conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Assist with the accounting for fixed assets.
Assists with internal audits to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency
of operations.
Assist internal auditor with various task including putting reports and entering data in the Issue Tracker.
Assist with uploading data to secure portals for various internal and external audits.
Assist with branch audits, including reviewing quarterly audits.
Updating the accounting and audit pages for Employee Connect (internal website)
Serves as backup support for other accounting staff.

Qualifications Include:
Ideal candidate would hold a bachelors degree in accounting plus 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in bank auditing or accounting would be preferred; previous public accounting experience would be desired.
General Ledger (G/L) experience and knowledge of balancing techniques is required.
Must have knowledge of the accounting function and concepts with the ability to problem solve and translate information to staff.
Problem solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneous are essential.
Proficiency with various software programs such as Microsoft office products and Windows operating system.
Previous experience working with accounting software would be an asset.
Must have excellent accounting, financial, computer, and communication skills.
Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, cost conscious and have a critical eye to be able to detect numerical inconsistencies or problems.
