Vice President of Research- Remote (Biotech)
The E.W Scripps company is hiring a Vice President of Research. This individual will oversee enterprise-wide strategy, planning and execution of all linear, digital, and multi-platform research. Inspire and execute a consumer-first, insights-driven culture to support Scripps' overall mission. Drive the measurement strategy that shapes the company's programming, sales and marketing efforts for both local media stations and national networks operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Cultivate a best-in-class research team, driving thought leadership and helping build a consumer and advertiser-centric company culture.
Design an organizational structure that supports a highly matrixed business with a broad portfolio of properties and brands.
Utilize a combination of local and national research insights to create a comprehensive understanding of audience behavior and preferences.
Understand and quantify the voice of the consumer within Scripps.
Direct innovative qualitative and quantitative research providing insights, recommendations and serving as a key point of information for senior executive strategic decision-making.
Develop and lead the measurement strategy for Scripps, ensuring that viewership metrics effectively inform content development, advertising sales, and marketing efforts.
Design, commission, and field high-quality primary research that guides business decisions including consumer trend research, brand image tracking, pilot tests, promo tests, and other qualitative & quantitative research.
Synthesize research findings into compelling stories with action-oriented implications, distilling and communicating complicated information to an array of stakeholders.
Partner with the Data & Analytics team in the integration and optimization of data from various research sources to provide a holistic view of audience engagement across different platforms and demographics.
Provide ongoing decision support to all levels of management throughout the division and Scripps corporate functions; key stakeholders include local station GM's, Programming, Marketing, Ad Sales, Corporate Communications, Distribution, Finance, Strategy, Digital, News, Sports, and Investor Relations.
Ensure quality control and fiscal responsibility for the research budget.
Act as an advocate for Scripps interests in key industry forums such as the MRC, VAB, CIMM, NAB, and other venues; engages key vendors, including alternative currency providers, to influence innovation in product offerings.
Manage relationships and partnerships with key third-party vendors and data providers.
Constantly assess the competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities that positively impact Scripps' ability to build valued brands.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BA/BS in Marketing; graduate degree preferred; or equivalent work experience
Generally, 10+ years experience working for media companies with a sophisticated understanding of quantitative and qualitative research, grounded in established survey methodologies, questionnaire writing, analytical techniques and report writing
Experience in building, managing and leading high-performing and successful teams
In-depth fluency and understanding of media measurement methodologies and landscape, including OTT/online analytics, Comscore and Nielsen systems and cross-platform products
Consultative strategist and strong collaborator with storytelling skills that transform data and the consumer's voice into actionable insights, and the ability to explain the logic behind solutions in a clear and concise manner
Established media industry leader with in-depth knowledge of the content landscape
Excellent ability to think strategically, analyze large data sets, create an articulate, engaging narrative and craft data visualization that is contextually impactful
Extensive expertise in both local and national audience research methodologies and tools
Proven experience in navigating upfronts and communicating research insights to drive strategic decisions
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights
Exceptional leadership abilities with experience managing diverse teams and fostering cross-functional collaboration
Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of engaging various stakeholders with data-driven narratives
