POSITION SUMMARY:
The USF College of Nursing is seeking a full-time clinical/teaching (non-tenure track) faculty member eligible for the rank of Visiting Instructor able to teach courses; serve on college and university committees; and actively participate in community engagement.
The primary duty of the role will be to teach in the undergraduate program, with potential participation in graduate program activities. The successful candidate may also serve as a liaison between the USF College of Nursing and designated clinical facilities, which will necessitate some travel to these facilities. Additionally, the role includes mentoring nursing students and engaging in service activities at the college, university, community, and professional levels, consistent with the rank of instructor.
The faculty candidate can expect to be assigned to teach at any of the college's three campuses: Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota/Manatee depending on the needs of the program and the College.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching: Face-to-face didactic, online, clinical, and lab instruction of undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Faculty members are expected to engage students through diverse teaching methodologies, fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that supports academic excellence at all levels. It will include participation in program and curriculum review activities, as well as the evaluation of clinical sites and students as appropriate.
Administrative/Service: The candidate is expected to serve on college and university committees as appropriate. They should also actively engage in community and professional service activities that align with the mission, vision, and values of the College of Nursing, as well as those that meet the university's criteria for their appointment in accordance with their rank.
Other Duties: The candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activities, including publications and presentations, in alignment with the university's criteria for the appointment at the rank of instructor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
A minimum of a master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of instructor.
Must hold an unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
Two or more years of recent [within the last 2 years] direct patient care clinical experience.
Three or more years of classroom and clinical teaching experience.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in one of the following specialties:
Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics, Psych Mental
PREFERRED:
Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (DNP and/or PhD).
An established record of scholarly work and/or external funding.
Experience effectively engaging with individuals from varied backgrounds.
