1. Plans, develops and administers methods, strategies and procedures for meeting program objectives; directs and oversees the daily activities of staff members.
2. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and ensures that expenditures are within budget allocation.
3. Directs and coordinates personally, or through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with carrying out the objectives of the program.
4. Directs the preparation of and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objectives; modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attains objectives.
5. Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs.
6. Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration.
7. Manages and administers grant for program, including meetings, communication coordination, scholarships and other operations.
8. May prepare or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from state and federal agencies, and private foundation sponsors.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Description:
This position works in the Office of Undergraduate Business Programs in the C.T. Bauer College of Business and is responsible for providing functional leadership and oversight of an academic advising program and related events, and provide academic advising services for undergraduate business students.
The position will serve one of the following academic advising programs: pre-business advising and/or learning abroad, major advising for declared majors, or non-business advising who are interested in majoring or minoring in business.
Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to depending on the academic advising program:
• Provide functional leadership and oversight of an academic advising program and related events
• Provide academic advising services for undergraduate business students
• Directs data-driven planning, design, and implementation of academic advising interventions using institutional advising tools and technology.
• Manages advising tools and resolves technical issues for advising program.
• Directs and manages academic advising processes related to student retention interventions and reporting at the college and university level.
• Manages intervention for escalated advising issues.
• Provides leadership to academic advising staff, including the training of new academic advising staff and the ongoing training of current staff.
• Reviews, documents, and automates academic advising processes with a view toward continuous quality improvement.
• Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs.
• Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration.
• Directs administrative processes and leads event planning for advising program.
• Directs and manages academic advising staffing and processes for new student orientation.

Learning Abroad
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of business major and minor curriculum changes that may impact learning abroad course selection.
• Collaborates with Bauer College faculty and department chairs regarding pre-approval of learning abroad course credit.
• Directs the documentation and maintenance of relevant data including a record of approved courses for tracking purposes at the College and University level.
• Collaborates with the Office of Global Initiatives within the Bauer College to facilitate new REEP partnerships - provides academic advising to incoming and outgoing students; participates in promotional events; plans and executes a welcome reception for incoming exchange students; provides ongoing advising to current REEP students.
• Directs, plans and executes information sessions and events to promote learning abroad opportunities and scholarships to business students.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of University learning abroad policies and procedures as well as programs and scholarships that may be of particular interest to Bauer College students.
• Collaborates with UH Learning Abroad as needed.
Non-Business Advising
• Co-Leader of Business Pathway Program. The program assists with retention and timely graduation.
• Leads Parent Panel for orientation to ensure all questions are answered, to be a liaison between the parent and the university.
Preferences:
• Pre-Business Advising - Academic advising experience with Pre-Business students.
• Learning Abroad - International education work experience in higher education is preferred. Academic advising experience with Pre-Business students.
• Major Advising - Academic advising experience with declared business majors.
• Non-Business Advising - Academic advising experience working with at risk students and career coaching.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
