Shipping and Receiving Clerk 12hr Rotating Day Shift (Manufacturing)



Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Verify incoming goods prior to acceptance.
  • Confirm outgoing goods prior to loading.
  • Communication with TL, LTL carriers via telephone, fax, websites, etc.
  • Daily processing of shipping documents, customs (export) documents.
  • Daily communication with Customer Service regarding order details.
  • Record all shipping/receiving transactions within the computer system.
  • Inform Shipping Supervisor of any discrepancies that cannot be resolved.
  • Utilize routing guide to select approved carriers and determine most cost-efficient method for shipping.
  • Safely operate forklift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a shipping/warehouse role

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Ability to STOP-THINK-ACT and work safely.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift.
  • Ability to work rotating job stations
  • Ability to effectively work in teams.
  • Ability to professionally accept constructive feedback and criticism.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse-based environment with moving equipment and people.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles.
  • Working knowledge of logistics.
  • Working knowledge of export shipping procedures.
  • Experienced use of an on-line control system.
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Good oral communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read and interpret tariffs, shipping and receiving documents, and freight invoices
