JOB DESCRIPTION

Basic Job Functions

Assists Boilermaker in construction, assembly, maintenance, planning, lay-out, installation, testing and repair all types of boilers and auxiliary systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Assists with installation of all types of structural steel framework and support of tube systems. Assists with installation of manholes, hand holes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or feed water connections in drums of water tube boilers. Assists with positioning, aligning, and securing structural parts or related assemblies to boiler frames, tanks, or vats of pressure vessels. Assists with installation of refractory bricks or other heat-resistance materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels. Must have the ability to learn the craft and take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Job Requirements

Must have experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.

NCCER Core Curriculum or High School Diploma preferred.

Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis

Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures

May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis

May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis

Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)

Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
