The Human Services Practitioner position is employed by USF AHEC Tobacco Cessation Program to provide support for cessation services and interventions with individuals and groups addicted to tobacco or health care workers who treat tobacco dependent patients. Work assignments require the application of professional training and experience to assist with appropriate tobacco interventions for clients and to carry out other assignments related to tobacco cessation screenings, interventions, and training. The Human Services Practitioner will interact with adult clients, the elderly, and institutional staff. Interventions may include limited distribution of nicotine replacement products via mail delivery, pre-registration/screening tobacco dependent clients into cessation programs, and ordering and preparing materials for groups. This position requires a qualified human services professional who will provide direct assistance to clients or serve as case manager to coordinate the delivery of services to clients. With oversight from Program Director or Assistant Director, other administrative support duties may be assigned to fulfill grant requirements.Each position assigned to this classification must require specific training at the Bachelor's degree or Master's degree level in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or other field appropriate to the program content. Bachelor's degree candidates must have at least two years of applicable experience. The Master's degree may substitute for the required experience. Learn Here. Grow Here .Facilitate in-person and virtual tobacco cessation groups in the general population, behavioral health facilities, and businesses in coordination with other staff. Distributes over-the-counter (OTC) Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products to program participants in accordance with established Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida (BTFF) and USF AHEC protocols. \n Maintain and submit accurate and complete reports on program activities by the established deadlines. Utilize the Tobacco Free Florida AHEC Cessation Program Tracker (TFFACT) system to complete calls and enter participant data. As needed, process tobacco cessation referrals from USF Health EPIC into TFFACT and follow-up with providers on the status of the referrals. \n Promote TFF AHEC Cessation services at local community events. Attend partnership meetings, health fairs, and other community events. Actively increase partnership and participation in the Tobacco Free Florida AHEC classes by researching and recruiting potential new sites to host cessation classes and document progress. \n Completes training and maintains certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist. Attend ongoing tobacco cessation training to stay abreast of the field and to maintain licensure and certification. Participate in local, regional, statewide, and national forums supporting the AHEC tobacco program mission. \n Coordinate and assist with systems change strategies in healthcare, behavioral health, and social services organizations in the USF AHEC region. Distribute marketing and cessation materials routinely to providers. Provide evidence-based tobacco treatment guidelines to healthcare providers and health profession students.
