Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal Teacher Resident believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. This role is a “teacher in training” who is admitted to the PUC Teacher Residency Program for one year. They must apply and be admitted to the Loyola Marymount credential program which will run simultaneously with the teacher residency. The Teacher Resident will be placed at a PUC school and paired with a mentor teacher for the residency year as a co-teacher. Upon successful completion of the residency and LMU credential requirements, the Teacher Resident will be eligible for hire as a Teacher of Record after one year.

This individual is also an ambassador to the community and a role model for potential residents to follow.
What you will need to accomplish:
Planning and Instruction:
- Organize classroom procedures and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
- Establish a culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students
- Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with Common Core standards and PUC instructional guidelines
- Assess students regularly under PUC guidelines, examine student assessment data, and refine classroom activities to differentiate instruction for each student
- Collaborate closely with PUC team members (grade-level, school-wide, and across sites) to align curriculum across subjects, improve own and others' instructional practices, and share best practices
- Actively participate in professional development activities such as training sessions and working with the lead teacher, principal, and instructional coaches
- Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress that involve parents/guardians in their students' education
- Track critical student information, and maintain accurate student records and attendance per PUC procedures
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with other team members and outside service providers to diagnose and address learning challenges
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support for PUC Schools' mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned such as after-school intervention, inclusion minutes, or Saturday School
What do we require from you?
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Applicants must be on track to completing or have completed a bachelor's degree by June 2025
- Applicants must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher on the last 60 semesters of 90 quarter units earned (*Individuals with a GPA below 3.0 may apply, but must include a one-page explanation of the circumstances that contributed to a lower GPA in order to be considered.)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
