Court Security Assistant (Part-time, 0.50 FTE) (Finance)

The Court Security Assistant position performs a range of security enforcement and administrative duties within the Municipal Court, which includes ensuring the security of the courtroom, the safety of court personnel and those appearing in court by completing the screening processes for entry into the Municipal Court . In addition, this position provides information and assistance to the public, follow-up with related administrative functions, completes reports, and other related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all security aspects of a courthouse, including ensuring that the judges and judicial staff, court employees, and the general public visiting the courthouse are safe.Operate court security equipment and screen residents before they enter court areasMaintain order and decorum in the court areas and may assist in the courtroom when the court is in session.Assists the Court in non-emergency or emergency situations until police arrive and assist police officer(s), as directed.Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances and acts accordingly to prevent accidents, and is responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.Respond to and resolve conflicts using conflict resolution techniques.Conduct regular patrols and inspections of the court facilities (including exterior perimeters), monitor courtrooms, staff areas, and lobbies for unauthorized persons and packages, and respond to requests for security services and take appropriate action.Address situations that may intensify or escalate to a disturbance or hazard in the court facility.Prepare and submit reports on security incidents.Provide exceptional customer service when communicating and assisting clients, customers, co-workers, outside vendors, contractors, other city personnel, etc.Assist in developing security procedures, manuals, and training as needed. Facilitate and/or coordinate security-related training for court personnel.May provide escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals.Monitor panic alarm systems, closed circuit TV, door access, and other security systems.Use radios and other communication devices to report emergency situations to dispatch clearly.Keep supervisors and managers informed of unusual occurrences and important events as detailed in post orders, rules, regulations, guidelines, and protocols.Enter and/or clear warrants into CCIC, and provide ID information from CCIC when requested by the Court.Assist in the courtroom as Bailiff as needed.May operate a computer or the court's computer database software.May perform other court-related duties upon request.
Management Responsibilities
