About the Job: GPI is seeking a full-time structural project engineer for our New England branch based in Wilmington, MA, or Boston, MA, office. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the design of bridges for MassDOT, other state DOTs in New England, and other local agencies. We seek someone with a good work ethic, a desire to learn and mentor others, the willingness to work collaboratively with our team, and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects. We are currently designing multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structures. We have new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, including structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and dams. Responsibilities: Designing bridges and other related structural elements Understanding and applying technical codes and engineering practices related to bridge design Working with a team of enthusiastic bridge engineers to complete bridge designs from Preliminary Structures Reports through the development of PS&E documents and construction. Building solid relationships with inter-departmental teams Understanding and working within schedules and budgets to ensure contractual obligations for structural elements Performing calculations in accordance with the NHDOT Bridge Design Manual, AASHTO design standards, and other requirements Mentor staff Qualifications: BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters degree a plus) PE Licensure in MA required or the ability to obtain this within 12 months 5+ years of experience working in the bridge design profession Proficiency in current industry software, including AutoCAD and AASHTOWare required; Bentley Open Bridge, MicroStation, Csi Bridge, and MDX desired Working knowledge of LRFD Bridge Design Codes Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environmentMassDOT experience preferred
