Manager, Alternative Investments (Finance)

Major Duties:
1. Manages multiple operations teams in the Alternative Investments department; Key functional responsibilities include overseeing trade execution, wires and accounting entries, reconciliation, partner services, project management, and financial management
2. Responsible for the development and enforcement of controls within the operations of the unit, ensuring that the control and risk environment in the area is at the highest possible level
3. Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise. Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
4. Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities
5. Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
6. Makes staffing decisions, manages expenses and salary review process for the division
7. Participates in developing strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met
8. Seasoned leader with extensive business experience, and broad functional expertise, with focus on proactive strategic leadership
9. Responsible for managing multiple units or functions through the direct management of a group of managers
Knowledge:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. In depth knowledge and experience in the management of a custody operation. Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding the function is required to ensure compliance with policies. Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment. Leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for the multiple units and highly flexible and adaptable to change.
Experience:
Required A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required.
People manager experience of 6+ years and overall industry experience of 10+ years.
Preferred experience in the management of a Hedge Funds, Fund Administration, Fund Accounting, or related discipline.
