Worthington Enterprises is seeking a corporate Logistics Manager! The logistics manager's primary focus is to develop and oversee transportation management services for Worthington Enterprises. They will act as strategic and tactical liaison with the carrier companies. This position coordinates efforts across all business units and works with local shipping personnel focusing on cost savings and respective analysis; carrier oversight and contract negotiation, award, and management are critical to ultimate financial performance (including issue resolution). The logistics manager supports ongoing best-in-class practices and develops cost and service improvement options impacting the Corporation as a whole. The scope includes both inbound and outbound foreign and domestic freight; truck, rail, and barge transportation modes, LTL, small package, carrier loss and damage claims and dedicated fleet management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Negotiate and maintain carrier contract pricing, and freight handling agreements, resolve problems and settlements, contact customs officials to obtain the release of incoming freight, and resolve delays (corporate-wide source and negotiate) $35+ million spend
Work with Sales, Operation, Supply Chain, and Purchasing on best freight rates, compliance with federal and foreign regulations (inbound/outbound foreign and domestic supply chains)
Identify, develop, and manage (with business unit transportation leadership) best-in-class practices and control model to optimize Worthington Enterprises overall transportation spend to minimize total cost and realize required customer service levels
Develop and maintain applicable management metrics
Participate in the overall Purchasing strategy development
Manages and directs production planning, material procurement, inventory control, rate setting, vendor selection and retention, expediting, analyzing and distribution of product for the divisions.
Manage and coordinate shipping and receiving, inventory, and warehousing of product
Monitors all inbound and outbound loads in TMS for carrier response
Knowledge of Load Builder and Load Coordinator role for assisting in problem-solving and back-up
In-depth, working knowledge of the transportation industry with a focus on Truckload, LTL, Parcel, international modes, flat-bed trucking, and cost structures
Working knowledge of Consumer Products (producer and distribution)
Detail and cost-oriented; financial analysis capability
Ability to handle high volumes in a timely manner with shifting requirements
Professional and mature work attitude with an even temperament
Strong PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Flexible and adaptable to change
