ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $88,000.00 - 109,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

Are you a GIS professional with a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and creating meaningful impact? As a GIS Analyst II with our Park Planning and Development team, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing the City's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while enhancing the future of our community's parks and trails. As the GIS Analyst II, you will be responsible for supporting the realization of the City's vision as outlined in the 2021 ReCreate Parks and Recreation Plan and 2022 Parks Infrastructure Replacement Plan, helping to ensure that projects reflect the needs and aspirations of the community.

In this dynamic role, you'll manage and enhance GIS applications, databases, and mapping tools to support thoughtful decision-making and streamline park operations. By developing high-quality maps, dashboards, and interactive visualizations, you'll help communicate critical park information to staff, stakeholders, and senior leadership. You'll also collaborate closely with internal and external partners, providing training, crafting user-friendly solutions, and translating complex technical concepts into actionable direction for a diverse audience.

This role offers a unique opportunity to get out of the office and enjoy the outdoors. You'll immerse yourself in our community's parks and open spaces, gathering essential field data using advanced technology, aerial imagery, and other tools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Designs, builds, and maintains GIS applications including research, database design, data maintenance, and mapping analysis.
  • Designs and produces maps and regulatory maps.
  • Advises users on application of GIS; trains users in the use of specialized software.
  • Performs spatial analyses to provide map products, tabular data and reports.
  • Defines scope and specifications for projects; plans, documents and coordinates.
  • Maintains geographic data and performs updates, edits and QA/QC.
  • Maintains complex geographic databases and performs updates and edits
  • Reviews, evaluates and verifies mapping data for accuracy and consistency, prepares complex maps and data requests in response to service requests
  • Evaluates, develops and programs software applications to automate data capture, conversion and maintenance procedures related to GIS
  • Helps manage, maintain, support and troubleshoot server products.
  • Maintains hardware and software related to GIS.

  • Knowledge and experience of specialized software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcMap.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical users.
  • Knowledge or principles and practices of project coordination and management.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • In-depth knowledge of the use and application of GIS software products
  • Experience in use of GIS as an analytical tool
  • Advanced programming skills, database design and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of enterprise database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server and the ability to query
  • using SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and maintain an integrated system of enterprise GIS
  • (Geographic Information System) services
  • Ability to train GIS users on GIS products and services.
Required Qualifications

MinimumPreferredCollege degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university

Experience Requirements

  • Three to five years related experience in the information technology field, geographic information systems, planning or urban economics; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
