In partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI), the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Section of General & Preventive Cardiology is seeking an academic Invasive cardiologist for a full-time position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. This is a full-time 12-month salaried faculty appointment and carries with it attending staff privileges at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and affiliated hospitals. There is a desire candidates with significant interest in and commitment to teaching activities. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Assistant Professor, or the equivalent. Appointment at the rank of Full Professor requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Associate Professor, or the equivalent.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestrictive Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required.
To perform this position, candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restrictive FL Medical license, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
Participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience will be most competitive.
Level II certification in Echocardiography is preferred.
Desire expertise in adult non-invasive assessment of heart disease, including surface echo and trans-esophageal echocardiography, stress echo and adult congenital heart disease.
Desire experience with exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consulting and attending in a coronary intensive care unit or similar environment.
Academic experience in the field of coronary physiology and endothelial dsyfunction is preferred.

Clinical: Participates in inpatient general cardiology consult service, non-invasive call & coverage, reading EKGs and Stress Tests. Participates in outpatient clinics for USF Health. Duties include: Diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the cardiovascular system. Participates in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents, and/or post-doctoral fellows. Performs patient exams and order or conduct diagnostic testing.Opportunities to participate in Echo Lab and Call & Coverage for Transesophagreal Echocardiography, Stress Test On Call, and Echo reads if certified from a nationally accredited organization. Performs diagnostic left and right heart catheterizations, invasive coronary physiology including fractional flow reserve, coronary flow reserve and intracoronary methylergonovine and acetyl choline. Develop ongoing treatment and disease-management plans.Prescribe medicine and coordinate referrals as necessary.Conduct early-detection screenings. Maintain accurate patient records and charts.Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and administration.
Administrative: Complete clinical obligations such as chart completion, patient follow-up, etc.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university.
Resonsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or statewide committees.
