Practice Leader, Middle Market (Remote) (R&D)

We are recruiting for a Practice Leader, Middle Market to join our team. This role is remote and can sit in most locations in the U.S.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Practice Leader takes the role of Amerisure's foremost expert practitioner in underwriting and bearing market knowledge within designated Vertical/Segment. Is an industry expert and thought leader and uses this knowledge to build a market leading execution framework for underwriting of specialty. The Practice leader is both a big picture thinker and an astute analyst with the ability to evaluate overall portfolio level performance at a book level and provide detailed collaboration on individual complex accounts. Will represent Amerisure externally as needed as an industry expert in relationship building and prospecting activities with customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute the underwriting strategy and risk evaluation framework for the middle market vertical/segment, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.
Provide expert underwriting consultation by collaborating with underwriters on the largest and most complex accounts within the middle market segment holding a high level of authority.
Support business development efforts by engaging in prospecting and relationship management activities with key agency partners and customers to enhance the company's market presence.
Analyze and monitor key profitability and production trends within the middle market vertical, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives to optimize performance.
Lead the dissemination of knowledge related to the middle market market, ensuring consistent application of underwriting principles and best practices across all levels of field underwriting consultants and core underwriters.
Identify and create plans to address underwriting training needs be developing and leading initiatives to enhance technical expertise, specialization, and underwriting capabilities.
Collaborate with corporate underwriting team to refine underwriting guidance and best practices.
Ensure underwriting decisions adhere to Amerisure's risk appetite, guidelines, and compliance standards.
Utilize data analytics and underwriting insights to assess portfolio performance, guide decision-making, and inform risk selection strategies.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience
10 years commercial insurance underwriting experience with expertise in middle market
Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Ability to clearly and concisely explain technical concepts to others in the organization.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.
Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Experience influencing and collaborating at the executive level.
