Job Summary: The Virtual Wellbeing Instructor instructs an engaging virtual fitness and wellbeing experience, by providing relatable instruction in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. The incumbent is responsible to develop creative curriculum to meet the need of diverse audiences, including choreography and music selection. The Virtual Wellbeing Instructor will engage in professional development opportunities to advance access to whole-person health and wellbeing in accordance with YMCA mission, policies and procedures. Essential Functions: Plan, prepare and lead a virtual class that are live or on demand, workshop or practice which may include group fitness, a healing art practice, wellbeing topics, or integrative health practice supporting the mind, body, spirit, and community. Maintain working knowledge of wellness industry and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to participants. Respond and follow YMCA policies and procedures. Create a safe virtual space where all are included to participate. Prepare for class, including dressed appropriately in uniform, studio configuration set up, music ready, ect prior to class start time. Ensure participates feel as though they were expected and welcomed at class start time. Adhere to the YMCAs HIPAA policies and procedures and ensure participants protected health information is secure. Attend all required team meetings or check-ins and in-person mission delivery operations. Represent the YMCA in the community, participating via in-person and virtual public relations and promotional activities (as needed) Respond to and communicate all participant concerns and feedback in a timely manner to supervisor. Obtain, maintain, and provide required certification related to group exercise, personal training, healing art, wellbeing or integrative health practice supporting the mind, body, spirit, community, and environment experience. Relationships: This position reports to the Virtual Studio Instructor for scheduling who reports to the Associate Vice President of Digital Marketing and Platform. This role will collaborate and may take work direction from digital leaders, wellbeing leaders or their designee. Qualifications: Required Required Certifications for group fitness instruction: CPR, AED, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification. Demonstrated experience leading or teaching a variety of virtual fitness classes to meet the need of diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience with creative curriculum development, including choreography and music selection. Certification in areas of expertise (cardio, strength, cycle, mat Pilates, dance, Forever Well, Silver Sneakers, yoga/meditation, mindfulness-based stress reduction, emotional freedom technique, hypnotherapy, somatic movement, gyro kinesis, energy healing, Reiki, healing touch, sound healing, nutrition/cooking/culinary/gardening, guided imagery, etc.). Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate and encourage participants virtually with appropriate enthusiasm and passion. Experience instructing adults and/or youth and understanding components of behavioral changes. Attend and successfully complete within 90 days of hire: YMCA Healthy Lifestyles. Proficient in using technology in the Virtual Studio. Sign YMCA Talent Release Form. Preferred Education or work experience includes basic fitness, health, nutrition, wellness or personal development. Ideal candidate will have four (4) or more years of experience hosting a virtual fitness experience. Work Conditions: Ability to conduct classes and activities in-person in a virtual studio. Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time. Exposure to music volume ranging from moderate to loud. Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
