HEALTH EDUCATION ASSISTANT I/II - Friday Night Live - Alcohol - Indio (Finance)

Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is looking for a Health Education Assistant I/II to join their Friday Night Live - Alcohol program within Behavioral Health, based in Indio.
The incumbent in this role will participate in in-person meetings, print and design artwork for events, manage equipment logistics (including pickup and drop-off), maintain inventory, process orders, and prepare all necessary flyers for events. The Health Education Assistant I/II will also be responsible for developing and delivering presentations, planning workshops, collaborating with school administration and teachers, conducting outreach and tabling at upcoming events, and promoting and recruiting participants for these events. Additionally, the incumbent will handle data entry and lead meetings and training sessions for youth focused on the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The department is looking for candidates with experience in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva, as well as a general understanding of how to troubleshoot audio/visual equipment.
Will push and lift 25 to 40 pounds. (boxes, supplies, and equipment)
Bilingual Preferred but not required.
California Drivers License and Auto Insurance is required.
Under general supervision, assists and participates in all phases of community and/or patient health and nutrition education programs, including planning and evaluation; and performs other related duties as required.
The Health Education Assistant II assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health education programs within major functional areas of the Department of Public Health, Department of Mental Health, or Office on Aging. This class differs from the Health Education Assistant I in that the latter is the entry-level class in which incumbents receive training in the principles, methods, and techniques of community health and nutrition education including program planning and evaluation.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• In a learning capacity: assist in preparing exhibits, posters, displays and other visual aids for presentation at meetings, conferences, clinics and public gatherings.
• Researches health information and prepares newsletters, educational materials, news releases and special features on assigned health topics; assist in the planning of and participates in workshops, seminars, and the discussion groups to promote health and health education programs.
• Assist in the orientation and training of departmental and other county department staff participating in health education programs in the areas of program objectives and methods.
• Prepares curriculum and delivers presentations on assigned health and nutrition topics and on the programs and services of the Department of Health or Riverside County Regional Medical Center.
• Networks with target community groups and leaders to promote health education programs and services and compile resources.
• Assists in determining community health needs and participates in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs designed to meet such needs.
• Provides nutrition and health education to individuals based on assessed needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Health Education Assistant I
$22.22 - $30.84 Hourly
$46,224.15 - $64,146.65 Annually
Education: Graduation from a recognized college with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Sciences or Services, Health or Community Health Education, Home Economics, Foods and Nutrition, Family and Consumer Related Sciences, or Behavioral or Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Social Work). (Experience which involved assisting and participating in a health education program in a health care facility, public health agency or a hospital may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis. This experience must have included responsibility for the preparation of health education materials and preparing and delivering talks on health and nutrition topics and community health services).
Health Education Assistant II
$24.36 - $32.18 Hourly
$50,667.27 - $66,924.88 Annually
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in community health education, public health, health sciences or services, health education, home economics, foods and nutrition, kinesiology, family or consumer-related sciences, behavioral or social sciences, or closely related field.
OR
Experience : One year of experience as a Health Education Assistant I with the County of Riverside.
Both - Health Education Assistant I/II
Knowledge of: Community resources and their functions; group dynamics and human behavior; human anatomy and physiology; the techniques involved in preparing and displaying posters, exhibits, and other educational visual aids; common health problems, their causes, and prevention.
Ability to: Present ideas accurately, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing; assist in the promotion of public health education programs; prepare and deliver effective oral presentations before public and professional groups; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of community agencies, organizations, and individuals.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
