Senior Revenue Accountant (Finance)
Jonah Energy is an oil and gas exploration, and development company headquartered in Denver, Colorado and operating in the Jonah and Pinedale Fields in Sublette County, Wyoming. The company is one of the largest privately held natural gas producers in the US and focuses on producing natural gas in an environmentally responsible manner.
The Senior Revenue Accountant under limited oversight is responsible for revenue and regulatory accounting and reporting. This role involves preparing all internal and external documents and interacting with various state and county agencies, partners, members of the Revenue and Production team, and various other departments. This position includes reporting and paying production taxes, royalties, and other specific obligations to the appropriate agencies. Additionally, the role is responsible for calculating appropriate accruals to ensure financial statement accuracy and preparing applicable general ledger account reconciliations. This position also prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and other Ad hoc on a monthly basis. The Senior Revenue Accountant reports to the Revenue Supervisor in the Denver office.
Timely process revenue batches to support revenue distribution to revenue recipients.
Timely process State royalties and associated taxes.
Review, audit, and input all non-operated properties recording of revenues and accruals.
Execute the reporting and paying escheat to all states.
Accurately complete reporting and paying any state specific backup withholding.
Manage owner related inquires and 1099 validation.
Support preparation and validation of the revenue distribution process.
Assist with researching and resolving any discrepancies in the revenue distribution process.
Assist with EnergyLink and owner inquiry processes.
Prepare any necessary revenue related journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analysis.
Assist accounting in troubleshooting system related issues and provide alternatives and solutions.
Ensure processing documentation is current and accurate to mitigate risk for the company.
Participate with and coordinate system testing of Quorum, or any future system to ensure functionality and updates are working appropriately.
Provide excellent customer service and resolve Ad hoc requests from individuals both internally and externally.
Develop the skill set of their team, including themselves, in areas related to revenue accounting such as regulatory reporting, tax reporting and statutory requirements in the states we operate.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
6+ years of Oil and Gas accounting experience
Quorum Business Solutions, or similar oil and gas system experience
