Pharmacy Technician III-(Night Shift) (Finance)
The County of Riverside - RUHS seeks to fill a NOC Shift Pharmacy Technician III position for the Medical Center in Moreno Valley.
Under general supervision, incumbents are responsible for supporting and participating in the medication management process including procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and monitoring of medications; perform other related duties as required.
The Pharmacy Technician III is the advanced journey-level classification in the Pharmacy Technician series and reports to a pharmacist or Supervising Pharmacy Technician. Incumbents perform the more difficult assignments, duties, and roles which require additional training beyond operations, as well as act as shift leads, participate in staff education and perform training duties. Under the guidance and supervision of the Pharmacists, the technicians are responsible for the majority of the medication preparation and distribution, and processing of prescriptions and medication orders.
Pharmacy Technician III is distinguished from the Supervising Pharmacy Technician in that the latter provides full-scope supervision to staff and supervises the day-to-day operation.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Perform all essential duties of a Pharmacy Technician.
• Provide input and guidance to management and staff as needed.
• Work on other projects as assigned or as pertains to the pharmacy area.
• Participate and support performance improvement activities; maintain quality assurance data and contribute to the quality assurance processes.
• Generate reports and analyses pertaining to the particular area of practice.
• Assist the Clinical Pharmacist in daily tasks; work under written protocol or collaborative practices.
• Perform complex duties independently.
• Able to utilize databases and systems pertaining to the area of work.
• Engage with other members of the healthcare team and customers to facilitate patient care needs.
• Train new staff; participate in an ongoing evaluation of staff competency.
• Serve as a lead and direct the activities of technicians, trainees, and students.
• Problem-solve daily obstacles, e.g., related to staffing, workflow operations, communication, and de-escalation.
• Contribute to improvements in procedure or workflow; participate in the development and revision of policy and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pharmacy Technician III
$42,571.98 - $61,837.98 Annually
Education: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training course in accordance with the California State Board of Pharmacy licensing requirements.
Experience: Three years as a pharmacy technician in a healthcare facility or community pharmacy.
Knowledge of: And thorough understanding of drug categories, metric system, pharmaceutical calculations, and medical terminology; generic and brand names, and understanding the use restrictions that apply; drug distribution systems; quality assurance and continuous quality improvement; excellent customer (physicians, nurses, and patients) service; professional standards and practices; federal, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and DHS laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to patient care, and dispensing of legend and non-legend pharmaceuticals and poisons; pharmacy systems databases and equipment; department and hospital policies and procedures pertinent to pharmacy practice.
Ability to: Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal format to clearly and concisely provide information; recognize and deal with priorities in a fast-paced, high workflow environment; possess decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and recognize when it is appropriate to escalate; retrieve and process patient and medication information; work with the staff and function as a model for them; work cooperatively with other staff and healthcare providers; organize and manage routine and new responsibilities.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
