Heavy Duty Equipment: Mechanic ll (Maintenance)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform predictive and preventive maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on a range of vehicles and heavy equipment, including diesel, gasoline, and alternative-fueled engines.Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulics systems, air brake systems, and auto electrical systems.Conduct 90-day BIT inspections and ensure compliance with required documentation.Work with diagnostic software such as Cummings Insite, Bendix Acom, and Cat ET.Coordinate with the Equipment Shop Manager to prioritize and set schedules for maintenance and repairs.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mechanics, sharing expertise and ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety protocols.Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to OSHA standards and company policies.Ensure all work performed meets company standards and generates accurate work orders and repair reports.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Diesel or Automotive Trade School preferred.Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (5+ years preferred).Skills:
Proficiency in diesel, gasoline, and hydraulic systems.Experience with tire mounting, repairs, and welding (preferred).Strong understanding of auto electrical diagnostics and modern automotive electronic control systems.Experience with Air Brake Systems, DEF and DPF systems, and drivetrain systems.
Certifications:
Valid Drivers License required. A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is a plus.Clean driving record (5 years required).Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Additional Requirements:
Must own a full set of mechanical tools.Cell phone required for communication and scheduling.Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to various project job sites in Northern California.Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and work in various weather conditions and noisy environments.
